Welcome to the web page of SeaCare Inc. Tasmania. SeaCare was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit organisation supported by the National Heritage Trust of Australia Fisheries Action Program. It is a community based group formed to facilitate projects aimed at benefiting the marine environment in Tasmania. So far activities have focussed on the restoration of Giant String Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera). Recently, SeaCare initiated a community based survey for the introduced Japanese seaweed Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame) and the long spined sea urchin (Centrostephanus rogersii). Other potential projects include beach clean ups.
