SeaCare.org.au - Restoring Tasmania's Kelp

SeaCare was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit organisation supported by the National Heritage Trust of Australia Fisheries Action Program. It is a community based group formed to facilitate projects aimed at benefiting the marine environment in Tasmania. So far activities have focussed on the restoration of Giant String Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera). Recently, SeaCare initiated a community based survey for the introduced Japanese seaweed Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame) and the long spined sea urchin (Centrostephanus rogersii). Other potential projects include beach clean ups.

Supporting SeaCare, Supporting your Heritage
Community generated effort and support is needed to take projects such as these into the future. SeaCare is a community based group, and you can help. This can be through active participation, public membership and/or sponsorship. With the support of the Tasmanian community,the program can expand into further Action Programs.
